Companies such as Wework, Genentech, Google, Salesforce and Build-A-Bear Workshop all have one thing in common, they allow dogs in the office. Dogs are a reminder to include fun in your workday and take a break from technology.

A study from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012 found that employees who brought their dogs to work experienced lower stress levels throughout the work day, reported higher levels of job satisfaction, and found that pets triggered workplace interactions that would not normally take place
“There might be a benefit here,” Randolph Barker, business professor at VCU and lead author on the study, said. “It’s a low cost wellness benefit, and it could be a recruiting opportunity (for businesses).”

And there’s no better Incentive to pull away from our screens than giving Lucy a hug and a kiss. As it turns out, these interactions not only provide opportunities to socialize with coworkers, but therein increase productivity through fostering a feeling of belonging at ones place of work!
